Do you ever wake up at the same time in the middle of the night?

The last two mornings, I have woken up between 3:55 and 4:00 am. Yesterday, I "snoozed" and rolled over after looking at the clock and went back to bed. Today, I got up to spend time with God.

Here's the background - I have been asking God about certain things going on in my life, for guidance and direction. Most of my days, however, are busy, or busy enough I don't take time to just be with God.

So, I have been wanting to hear from God, and I know that He often speaks at night (see 1 Samuel 3, Jesus also got up early, while still dark to pray), so today, when the 4am spiritual wake up call came in, I disciplined myself to get up.

Curiously, as only God can do, one of the Scriptures I read this morning was Psalm 27:8 My heart has heard you say, "Come and talk with me." And my heart responds, "Lord, I am coming."

God desires to talk to us all the time. His thoughts about us are as numerous as the sands on the seashore, but most of the time, He speaks to us in our heart (as opposed to audibly in our ears). Would you calm your heart (and your busy mind) and hear and talk with God today?

What God and I talked about today was personally encouraging to me, and I want to encourage you - let Him speak to your heart. Do not go back to sleep! I had to tell sleepiness to leave 3 times (I actually said it outloud) before I was awake enough to commune with God.
